Juan José Huerta

National Committee:
NC Member

Juan José Huerta was born in León, Guanajuato, has had the opportunity to reside all his life in this city, accumulating a pride for his own gentility. Tired of complaining about the performance of the institutions responsible for identity-strengthening, in recent times he has undertaken projects aimed at identifying, documenting and promoting the identity elements of the city... from his own trench: the Engraving.

Formed artistically in the Diego Rivera House of Culture and at the Antonio Segoviano School of Plastic Arts, he has undertaken professionalization processes in various institutions that include the Guanajuato Arts Center, the Institute of Culture of Aguascalientes, the Institute of Aesthetic Research of UNAM, the University of Guadalajara, the University of La Salle or the Rhino Image Workshop. He has developed projects under the tutelage of teachers such as Carla Rippey, Jesús Martínez, Alberto Castro Leñero, Ismael Guardado, Pedro Ascencio, Guillermo Keyss, Ricardo Sanabria, Carlos Bautista and Plinio Avila.

His work is part of the collection of the Museum of the city of León, and was recently selected in the biennial engraving Armadillo. He has participated in 58 group exhibitions in Mexico, the United States and Europe and in 19 solo exhibitions.
