I started painting and drawing at first self taught, then Solihull Technical College, then Birmingham School of Art in the early 80's. More recently I have been studying at the CIC in Taunton and experimenting with acrylic, collage, hair gel, boot polish, bleach, ink and other household goods.I like to experiment in different media including oil pastel, conte crayons.
My subject matter for the past couple of years have been nudes but done in a realist style with abstract influences, shapes, torn effects using colored paper. I like to create a slightly surreal quality to my work. My influences are the German Weimer artists such as Otto Dix, DaDa, De chirco, Going back further I can still admire Turner, and the other great artists. More up to date I like Damien Hurst.
I have had a few one man shows but more recently I enjoy showing with other artists as I think it helps to bounce ideas about and you get to meet some very nice and interesting people.
